“When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice; but when the wicked beareth rule, the people mourn.”- Proverbs 29:2

Yesterday, I had attended joint meetings- I as President to the other organization, and as General Secretary to the alliance. Together with other officers, we discussed timely and pressing issues that we encounter in our community. One of these is a local issue- about the termination of support by our barangay captain to the tricycle drivers, disallowing them to use the public terminal. The story goes this way:

A certain private person is claiming ownership to the TODA terminal, hence, he wants to receive rent from the tricycle drivers. Because there was no proof of ownership that was ever presented, these drivers refused to pay him rental fees.

Last week, our barangay captain withdrawn the permit he gave to the TODA since he wants the drivers to pay fees to the said alleged owner. The point is, instead of protecting his people, this barangay official is protecting the sole interest of the private individual.

Last election campaign, this claimant have given huge amount of money to the barangay captain for his expenses so, its time for the official to return the favor.

PRAYER:

Lord, protect your people from greedy and evil works of men especially from leaders who are supposed to serve them. Forgive their sins and may they realise that the material things on earth are only temporary; that instead, they should focus on keeping eternal treasures. All these I pray in Jesus’ name. Amen.
